As the response to this public health emergency escalates, many residents will feel direct economic impacts from business closures, event cancellations, and layoffs.
We’re doubling down on mitigation to protect our community–slowing the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and reducing the number of people infected.
Silicon Valley Strong calls on the community to stay informed and look out for each other. This landing page serves as a hub with critical updates and resources for vulnerable neighbors–accepting tips for additional information at mayoremail@sanjoseca.gov. This page is updated daily and is currently being translated into Spanish and Vietnamese.

Need more information about what is happening regarding COVID-19?

The City of San Jose publishes notifications on a daily basis on their website. On this page, you can sign up with the City to receive these notifications in your email, as well as review past notifications within their archive.

Updates on City of San José Services and/or Operations
 
– General Inquiries about City Facilities/Operations: 3-1-1 (408-535-3500)
– San José City Hall, located at 200 E. Santa Clara St., is closed to the public.
– All Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services (PRNS) facilities, including community centers, are closed to the public and therefore all programming is suspended until further notice. For updates on PRNS closures and cancellations, please visit: bit.ly/prnscancellations
– Public Meetings: City Council meetings and Rules and Open Government Committee meetings will continue as planned. The Planning Commission will be held virtually, as needed. All other Council Committees, Commissions, and Board meetings are cancelled through May.
– Eviction Moratorium sanjoseca.gov/evictionmoratorium provides residents relief from evictions for nonpayment of rent due to impacts of the COVID-19 outbreak.
– Get Business Support by emailing Covid19SJBusiness@sanjoseca.gov for businesses, employers, workers, owners, and managers who need business-related information or support during the COVID-19 crisis.
– Department of Transportation Parking Compliance is suspended. Downtown parking garages will continue to operate, with limited staffing, allowing the public access to essential services, such as restaurants with take-out options.
– The Rapid Response Network in Santa Clara County (Spanish video, Vietnamese video) continues its operations and stands ready to protect community members targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Call 408-290-1144 immediately for assistance from Rapid Response volunteers and immigration attorneys.

Received an email today from Zoe Lofgren’s office regarding a Teleconference Town Hall on COVID-19 in Santa Clara County. The relevant portions of the message are detailed below:

On Tuesday, March 24, I will be hosting a Telephone Town Hall on COVID-19 with the Santa Clara County Public Health Department (SCCPHD) and Reps. Eshoo, Khanna and Panetta. We want to facilitate an open and honest conversation about how COVID-19 is impacting our Santa Clara community.

Native Plant Garden for Los Paseos Park

Update 3/20/2020 – This event has been postponed indefinitely due to the current public health crisis from the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent shelter in place orders issued by the Santa Clara County Health Officer and followed by the Governor statewide stay at home order.

Los Paseos Neighborhood Association has a grant from the City of San Jose to start a native plant garden in Los Paseos Park this year. I am leading the project along with Hita Bambhania-Modha, and we are looking for volunteers to help us plan and implement the garden. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the community and meet like-minded neighbors. We are going to start getting our hands dirty with a volunteer event on

Updated mobile App for San Jose

The mobile device app, My San Jose, used to report issues to the city has a new name, look, and features. It is now called San Jose 311 and offers the additional following features:

    • Quicker access to paying bills
    • Clearer instructions to help you describe the issue
    • Updated map to make it easier to choose a location
    • Improved user experience and simpler language
    • Modern look and feel

Get San Jose 311 at the App Store, Google Play

Do not use this App for actual emergencies! For actual emergencies or crimes in progress, dial (408)277-8911 for direct access to  SJ emergency dispatch for police, fire, or medical response. Dialing 911 from a mobile device is first routed to CHP and then back to San Jose delaying response times.
