On a very cold and wet day in December 2022, a hardy group of LPNA volunteers planted 10 trees in our park with help from Our City Forest.
We planted: (map legend)
- 2 oaks on the hill across from the swings,
- 3 maples by the path to the parking lot, and
- 5 hybrid elms around the swing area.

The new trees take time to grow their roots, and they need 3 or more years of support, including regular watering, and periodic restaking and pruning by our volunteers.

After 2 ½ years, the trees are growing and leafing out. Eventually we’ll remove the stakes as the trees become established.

The tree planting was initially funded by a BeautifySJ Grant through the City of San Jose’s Parks, Recreation, and Neighborhood Services Department. LPNA has also adopted Los Paseos Park through San Jose’s Adopt-a-Park program.
