  • Native Plant Garden for Los Paseos Park

Update 3/20/2020 – This event has been postponed indefinitely due to the current public health crisis from the COVID-19 outbreak and subsequent shelter in place orders issued by the Santa Clara County Health Officer and followed by the Governor statewide stay at home order.

    Stay home! Stay safe!

Los Paseos Neighborhood Association has a grant from the City of San Jose to start a native plant garden in Los Paseos Park this year. I am leading the project along with Hita Bambhania-Modha, and we are looking for volunteers to help us plan and implement the garden. This is a great opportunity to contribute to the community and meet like-minded neighbors. We are going to start getting our hands dirty with a volunteer event on

    Sunday, March 29th

If you are interested in helping, please contact me by email at treasurer@lospaseosneighbors.com.

    Treasurer, Los Paseos Neighborhood Association

  • Updated mobile App for San Jose

The mobile device app, My San Jose, used to report issues to the city has a new name, look, and features. It is now called San Jose 311 and offers the additional following features:

      • Quicker access to paying bills
      • Clearer instructions to help you describe the issue
      • Updated map to make it easier to choose a location
      • Improved user experience and simpler language
      • Modern look and feel

Get San Jose 311 at the App Store, Google Play

Do not use this App for actual emergencies! For actual emergencies or crimes in progress, dial (408)277-8911 for direct access to  SJ emergency dispatch for police, fire, or medical response. Dialing 911 from a mobile device is first routed to CHP and then back to San Jose delaying response times.

  • First General Meeting of 2020

    Hello, Neighbors.

Our first meeting of 2020 is next week, Thursday, 7:00 p.m. Again, we are holding the meeting in the gym building of the Los Paseos Elementary School – a close walk-to place, or a quick drive-to place. Check our meeting agenda, with lots of new information for you!

    • An update from SJPD on current Crime Stats in our neighborhoods
    • An update on the CALMS camera project – discuss the good, accumulative effectiveness of the program so far
    • An update from District 2 Office on upcoming events, completed projects, plans for the future
    • San Jose’s Environmental Services Department – residential recycling.  Recycling markets have changed, prompting questions and some confusion around current practices. The presentation covers how to recycle properly, new tips and information, and how San José is responding to global shifts in recycling markets, particularly China’s National Sword policy, which restricts imports of certain recyclables.

  • LPNA General Meeting Location

We’re interested in feedback from the community. What do people prefer for a general meeting location? Something within the neighborhood and walking distance, or a more public venue like the library requiring you to drive in order to attend. Let us know via the poll below:

  • 2019 Holiday Tree Event

Despite the rains, many families ventured out and attended the event again this year to obtain a Christmas tree, visit Santa, meet SJPD/SJFD personnel, or contribute to the Toys for Tots program. A huge thanks to LPNA, LPHOA, and all the other participants to continue the tradition started by the Mata family 6 years ago. A brief photo album was posted to the facebook page.

  • Identity Theft

As we enter into the holiday season, it is sad that we must remind folks that grinch package thieves are on the prowl. More so than other times of the year. Along with these actions are mail theft, as well as ID theft. Regarding ID theft, I came across this article worthwhile sharing, Clues to look for if you suspect ID theft

Earlier in the year I also suggested to sign up for the USPS informed delivery service. If you haven’t done so, get on it and strengthen your oversight of mail delivery to your home address. Alternatively, research locked mail boxes, or a PO Box at the USPS, Postal Annex, or similar stores offering mail reception services.
