LPNA Free Street Trees Project

Hello, Neighbors. The message below is from LPNA Treasurer, Barbara Canup…

___________________________________

We’ve planted the first batch of street trees under LPNA’s BeautifySJ grant, and we have some applications in the pipeline, but that leaves us with funding for a couple of additional trees.

We want to hear from you now if you have a spot in the park strip in front of your house (between the sidewalk and street) with space for a tree to thrive! We need to plant during the rain and before the grant runs out in March. Send an email to gardener@lospaseosneighbors.com. Please include your name and street address in the email.

We will send you the Tree Stewardship Application from Our City Forest, along with instructions. Then we will guide you through the process with OCF, and LPNA will pay the $250 fee and help with the planting.

(Note that the space cannot be close to a lamppost or right beside a driveway. If there is a tree already there, or the spot currently has cemented bricks, rocks, or other “hardscape”, an additional permit for removal would be required, and the cost to remove would be your responsibility.)

Using the proper coolant within your HVAC

While cleaning up the stack of mail from my kitchen counter I came across the latest Angie’s List publication. Within was an interesting article by Paul F.P. Pogue regarding HVAC scams to load counterfeit coolant in your air conditioner. Give it a read and learn how to protect yourself from this type of HVAC scam. His  article is entitled “Is Your A/C System Using Counterfeit R-22?”
